Overview of Programs and Services
The 34th Street Partnership’s mission is to keep one of NYC’s greatest shopping districts clean, safe and attractive to businesses, workers, and visitors. Our programs include retail services, sanitation and security departments that augment the city’s own services, streetscape improvements, horticulture installations, event planning, and Visitor Services.

Sanitation

Supplementing the city’s own services, our 46 member Sanitation team scours the District daily, picking up trash, sweeping, and keeping our street furniture clean. During the winter, we work quickly to clear the District’s sidewalks of snow and keep them dry during the business day.

Security

Crime in the 34th Street District plummeted immediately after the formation of 34SP and the District continues to be one of the city’s safest. Much of the credit goes to our dedicated staff of trained, supervised Security personnel, which patrols the District and reports signs of illegal activity to the NYPD.

Streetscape

Discerning visitors to 34th Street notice that our street furniture is a cut above that of other city districts. We design, develop, and closely monitor the production of each element, resulting in attractive, high quality, and coordinated street furniture that lend 34th Street a signature look.

Horticulture

Nothing softens Midtown’s often brutal street grid like healthy, shade-giving trees and bright, colorful flowers. 34SP’s Horticulture Department maintains 120 trees, over 540 concrete planters, and 150 hanging baskets on the district’s streets, as well as the horticultural displays in Herald and Greeley Square Parks.

Herald And Greeley Squares

Located in the very heart of the 34th Street District, Herald and Greeley Squares provide a place for rest, respite, and activity for Midtown workers, shoppers, and sight-seers. The passive space the Squares provide was greatly augmented in 2009 with the introduction of the city’s Broadway Boulevard project.

Visitor Services

Thanks to its central location and its many highly popular attractions, 34th Street is one of the most-visited neighborhoods in the city. To help people find their way, 34SP maintains information kiosks staffed by bilingual guides eager to help. We also maintain 10 direction-finding kiosks with maps and directions to attractions.
